Police and Army officers will check the relevant documents and reason for crossing boundaries at every province limit from tomorrow, Community Police Services State Minister Dilum Amunugama said.
Speaking to media he said people who wish to cross the provincial boundaries required to obtain a letter of service requirement from their respective Government or private institutional head with the relevant Identity.
The Sri Lanka Transort Board (SLTB) Depot Superintendents have given the authority to provide buses considering the request letters issued by the respective Government or private institutions, the State Minister said.
“Most of the time, one or two buses will be crossing the provinces considering the service requirement of the essential services,” he said.
“The Depot Heads have been advised to check the relevant documents when people getting into the buses. If not, when the buses reach the provincial boundaries, those buses will be stopped by the cops and army to check the passenger’s documents, Minister Amunugama said.
Hence, it is compulsory to obtain such documents when crossing the provincial boundaries, he said.
However, following a meeting held this morning, all Heads of the Departments in Government as well as in the private sector have been told to issue services requirement letters to their employees to travel within the respective provinces, the State Minister added.
