No railway strike

The indefinite strike scheduled to be launched by the Railway Operations Supervisory Union (ROSU) and the Ceylon Railway Guards Union (CRGU) from Friday midnight has been called off, ROSU Convener Lal Ariyaratne said.

He said this decision was taken after discussions held with Deputy Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Ashok Abeysinghe this afternoon.

“The deputy minister has assured us we would be granted relief after referring this matter to President Maithripala Sirisena through Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe,” he said.
