Fuel bowser trucks that arrived at the Kolonnawa Petroleum Storage Terminal today, October 21, turned around without getting fuel, despite earlier promises from the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) about ongoing distribution. The CPC had announced that fuel would be available today and tomorrow, October 22, but reports show that no fuel was provided to the bowser trucks at the Kolonnawa Terminal today. According to reporters from Ada Derana, the bowser trucks that came to pick up their orders this morning had to leave empty. The Managing Director of the CPC, Mayura Neththikumarage, mentioned on October 20 that fuel distribution would continue over the weekend. However, despite these assurances, the trucks left without any fuel. In response to a question today, Mayura Neththikumarage told Ada Derana that they had released over 10,000 metric tons of diesel the previous night and 7,000 metric tons of petrol. He noted that typically, they distribute around 4,880 metric tons of diesel daily, which means they significantly exceeded that amount. He added that they had sent out nearly all orders that were supposed to be delivered on October 20 and 21.
