A 48-year-old woman from Sri Lanka has been taken into custody by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the city police. She is accused of using fake documents to get an Indian passport and trying to travel back to Sri Lanka. The case was opened by the CCB’s passport-fraud division after a complaint from the Foreigners Regional Registration Office. The woman, named Babylona, is married to an Indian man. Authorities revealed that her parents are from Sri Lanka, but she moved to India in 2015 and has been living in Thanjavur district. She obtained documents such as Aadhar, PAN, and a voter ID to apply for an Indian passport. On March 2, she was stopped by officials at the airport while trying to board a flight to Sri Lanka. Just three days earlier, another Sri Lankan woman faced arrest for a similar crime. The police have advised the public not to trust agents for passports or visas, and instead to apply directly to the Regional Passport Office with authentic documents.
