Today, on October 4th, the Attorney General informed the Court of Appeal that the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has decided not to promote tourism programs aimed at the LGBTIQ community in Sri Lanka. This announcement was made during a court hearing regarding a petition that seeks to cancel a letter sent by the SLTDA Chairman to a non-governmental organization (NGO). The letter had allowed a project that focused on promoting LGBTQ tourism in the country. The petition was submitted by a group that includes Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekara, who is the Convener of the ‘Desha Hithaishi Jathika Vyaparaya’. During the hearing, Dr. Wasantha Bandara, one of the petitioners, was also present in court. Due to legal restrictions, the Ada Derana Editorial team has chosen to disable comments on all articles related to ongoing court cases.
