Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya met with officials from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) at the Ministry of Education to discuss the Human Resource Development for Education Project (HRDEP). The talks aimed to improve the quality and relevance of senior secondary education, boost the educator workforce, and enhance the management of the education sector, as stated by the Prime Minister’s Media Division. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of building technical skills and developing qualified human resources while digitalizing the education system. She pointed out that the current government's goal is to create a strong human capital that can drive national development in various areas. ADB representatives reiterated their support for the government's education reform efforts, according to the Office of the Prime Minister. They expressed their willingness to offer technical expertise and financial assistance through international funding to help push forward these reforms. The meeting included ADB officials, technical experts, and Nalaka Kaluwewe, the Secretary to the Ministry of Education.
