Shiranthi Rajapaksa, the spouse of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, has been ordered to report to the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) on Tuesday, February 3, at 9:30 a.m. She had previously been called to the FCID on January 27 to give a statement. However, through her lawyer, she informed the police that she could not attend that day and asked for a two-week extension. As she did not provide a medical report to justify her request, she has now been summoned again for February 3. Additionally, Namal Rajapaksa, a Member of Parliament and National Organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), is also required to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on the same day. Reports suggest that MP Namal Rajapaksa had been summoned earlier to the CID but requested a different date since he was out of the country at that time, leading to the new date being set.
