The Riverston Tourist Zone, located in the Knuckles Forest Reserve, a World Heritage site, has reopened to both local and international tourists today (01) after being closed due to damage from Cyclone Ditwah. The roads from Rattota and Laggala to Riverston suffered significant damage but have been completely repaired in just two months. Currently, only light vehicles are permitted in the area. Public transport services have also started again, allowing tourists to safely enjoy the natural beauty of the reserve. Authorities have asked visitors to use vehicles carefully, follow local rules, and protect the environment in this World Heritage site. The quick repair of the roads was made possible through teamwork among the Road Development Authority, the tri-forces, district and divisional secretariats, local councils, and volunteer groups.
