The Colombo High Court has scheduled the case against former Minister of Fisheries Rajitha Senaratne and two others for April 29. This case was filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) due to claims that they caused a loss to the government when the Mutwal Fishery Harbour was rented to a private company in 2014. Today, during the court hearing, Judge Mohamed Mihal asked the defense lawyers if they planned to raise any objections to the updated charges. The lawyers replied that they would present any objections at the right time. As a result, the judge ordered the case to be examined again on April 29. The Bribery Commission alleges that from August 1 to November 1, 2014, the accused engaged in corrupt practices by pressuring the Fisheries Harbour Corporation's Board of Directors to lease the Mutwal Fisheries Harbour for less than its actual worth.
