Six police officers from the Gampaha Police Divisional Crime Detective Bureau (DCDB) have been suspended after their arrest for allegedly attacking a Catholic priest, according to Sri Lanka Police. On January 25, these six officers were taken into custody and later remanded by the court. The incident involves a Catholic priest from Kotadeniyawa, who was hospitalized at Negombo General Hospital after claiming he was assaulted. The priest stated that on the night of January 24, he was riding his motorcycle to a religious service when a group of police officers on motorcycles attacked him in Udugampola, Gampaha. The group consists of three Sergeants and three Constables, as reported by the police.
