A man has been taken into custody for having more than 3 kilograms of ‘Crystal Methamphetamine,’ known as ‘Ice.’ The estimated street value of the drugs is over Rs. 30 million. The suspect is linked to notorious figures in the underworld, ‘Welioya Priyantha’ and ‘SF Jagath,’ who are thought to be involved in organized crime and drug trafficking while currently believed to be hiding abroad. The arrest occurred during an operation by the Police Special Task Force (STF) in the Bambalapitiya Police Division. STF officers seized 3 kilograms and 16 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine, along with a mobile phone and two electronic weighing scales. The suspect was caught riding a motorcycle at a temporary roadblock set up on Ridgeway Place, according to police. After the arrest, officers searched a home in the Wellawatte area, where they found the drugs and related items. The suspect has been handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for further investigation.
