The government of Sri Lanka is set to launch a national initiative called “Godanagamu Adhishtanaye Sanhinda” aimed at quickly restoring religious sites that were damaged by Cyclone Ditwah. This program will officially start with an event led by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake tomorrow, the 27th. The Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs will oversee the program, which will kick off at 10:00 a.m. at the Sri Bodhirukkarama Viharaya in Peacock Hill, Doragalla, Gampola, and continue at 3:00 p.m. at the Kawatayamuna Purana Rajamaha Viharaya in Matale. The cyclone caused damage to over a thousand religious, cultural, and archaeological sites. The government plans to begin immediate restoration efforts to bring these sites back to their original condition while preserving their historical and cultural significance, as stated by the President's Media Division. The restoration will be guided by the respected Maha Sangha and other religious leaders, ensuring that all relevant parties are involved in the process, the PMD added.
