Gold prices in Sri Lanka have risen, following the trend in the global gold market. Traders at the Colombo Pettah gold market have noted that the cost of a gold sovereign has increased by approximately Rs. 12,000. Currently, a 24-carat gold sovereign is priced at Rs. 362,200, while a 22-carat gold sovereign costs Rs. 397,000. On the international front, gold prices have crossed the USD 5,000 per ounce mark. Economic experts believe that by the end of this year, gold prices could reach over USD 5,500 per ounce due to ongoing global economic factors.
