Five additional suspects and another boat, believed to be involved in supplying drugs to the multi-day fishing boats recently caught by the Navy off the southern coast, have been arrested at the Mirissa Fisheries Harbour. These boats were found with over 290 kg of heroin and crystal methamphetamine, known as ‘Ice’. The Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) made the arrests. Initial investigations suggest that the boat named ‘Dileesha 03’ provided the drugs to the fishing boats that were captured in the southern seas. The fishing vessels and the first suspects, who were stopped by the Navy while carrying the drugs last Friday, were taken to Dikkowita Fisheries Harbour yesterday. The police added that the 11 suspects from the initial seizure appeared in court, where they received a seven-day detention order for further investigation.
