Three individuals were arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) for trying to smuggle in a large amount of “Kush” and “Hashish” worth Rs. 133.94 million. This incident occurred earlier today, on the 25th, at the airport’s “Green Channel,” which is for travelers who have nothing to declare. Airport Customs officers, along with the Customs Narcotics Control Unit, conducted the arrests. One suspect is a 29-year-old bricklayer from Nattandiya, while the other two are a 29-year-old businessman also from Nattandiya and a 32-year-old businessman from Grandpass, Colombo. They arrived at the Katunayake Airport on SalamAir flight OV 437 from Muscat, Oman at 4:00 a.m. During the inspection, officials found 10 kilograms and 394 grams of “Kush” hidden in 10 packets, along with 1 kilogram and 912 grams of “Hashish” concealed in 18 packets across five pieces of luggage. The suspects have been transferred to the Katunayake Airport Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for further investigation.
