A suspect, wanted under an international 'Red Notice', has been brought back to Sri Lanka from India. This action followed talks between the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka, and Indian security officials. The return of the suspect was arranged by the Minister of Public Security and the Ministry Secretary, according to police reports. The criminal, identified as Keselwatte Dinusha, was detained in Chennai, India, after arriving from Dubai and was then deported back to Sri Lanka. Police arrested him this evening (24) at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake. Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) took him into custody upon his arrival. After that, he was handed over to the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Keselwatte Police Station for further investigations. The 34-year-old suspect is from Keselwatte. Legal proceedings have already begun against him in connection with several serious crimes, including: - Murder using sharp weapons in the Keselwatte Police Division in 2015. - Assisting in a shooting and murder in the Kotahena Police Division in 2018. - Assault with a sharp weapon in the Mattakkuliya Police Division in 2021. - Possession of a live grenade in the Kotahena Police Division in 2021. - Robbery and possession of narcotic drugs in the Keselwatte, Wellawatte, and Bloemendhal Police Divisions. Further inquiries are currently being carried out under the supervision of the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) for the Colombo Range.
