Three people have been taken into custody by the Bureau for the Prevention of Abuse of Children and Women due to a video that has been shared on social media, showing a woman being mistreated. The main suspect, a 43-year-old man from Borella, was apprehended yesterday (18) while he was hiding in a well-known hotel in Hikkaduwa. Along with him, two other men, aged 44 and 55 from Eheliyagoda, were arrested for allegedly helping the main suspect and hiding evidence from the police. The video that has been circulating shows a man stripping a woman naked. Investigators, following the guidance of the Deputy Inspector General of the Bureau, have identified the victims involved in this disturbing incident. Reports indicate that the suspect, who is a recognized businessman, stripped a domestic worker in front of others in his house, filmed the act, and then shared it on social media through a WhatsApp group. The police have informed that they presented details about the suspect to the Hulftsdorp Magistrate’s Court, resulting in a travel ban for him. After the incident, the suspect tried to avoid arrest and stayed at various hotels. The Bureau for the Prevention of Abuse of Children and Women is continuing to investigate the situation of the arrested individuals in Sri Lanka.
