Asoka Ranwala, a former Speaker and Member of Parliament for the National People’s Power (NPP), has had his wife hospitalized due to a car accident, according to Biyagama Police. The incident happened last night, October 16, close to the MP's home on the Kelaniya–Biyagama Road. Police reported that the accident occurred as she was attempting to park her vehicle inside their residence when another car from Kelaniya hit her. A police officer on night duty at the residence alerted the authorities about the crash. Initial investigations revealed that the driver of the other car, a Kalutara North resident, was intoxicated at the time of the incident. The MP's wife is now receiving medical care at a hospital.
