49-year-old doctor drowns at Mirissa Beach

A doctor tragically drowned at Mirissa Beach on September 25. The victim was the Chief Doctor at Walana District Hospital in Weligama. Local residents managed to rescue him and took him to Matara General Hospital, but he died there. The 49-year-old had started working at the hospital just a month ago.
