The Vice Chairman of China’s National People’s Congress, Wang Dongming, met with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat today, October 17. During their discussion, Vice Chairman Wang reaffirmed China's complete support for the economic and social growth of Sri Lanka, according to the President’s Media Division. This meeting is anticipated to strengthen the long-standing ties in economics, culture, and diplomacy between Sri Lanka and China. The President expressed gratitude to Vice Chairman Wang and his team for their visit and acknowledged the genuine assistance provided by the Chinese government, which includes both material and financial aid for disaster relief efforts in affected areas. The Chinese delegation was informed about the current disaster challenges facing Sri Lanka and the ongoing rebuilding efforts. The President also asked China for technical help in restoring the damaged railway system in Sri Lanka, as stated by the PMD.
