LNP – Minister Mervin Silva indicted
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has filed indictments against former Minister Mervin Silva, accusing him of accumulating unexplained assets and funds amounting to over Rs. 153 million during his tenure as Minister of Labour and Public Relations.
The charges were filed under Section 23(1)(a) of the Bribery Act, alleging the acquisition of assets through unlawful means. The indictment includes three main charges of acquiring illicit wealth.
According to the Bribery Commission, the allegations involve the purchase of a plot of land worth Rs. 70 million in the Colombo 7 area, the acquisition of a property valued at over Rs. 30 million in the Dalupitiya area of Kadawatha, and the purchase of a luxury jeep for his son, Malaka Silva, worth several millions
