LNP – Get ready for LG polls: Sajith says at SJB convention

Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa today told party members and supporters to get ready for the local government election and choose the best people to lead the nation towards stability.

Speaking during the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) convention at Campbell park, Mr. Premadasa said his party comprises people with the ability to rebuild the nation. “We are a group that can build this nation. Therefore get ready to bring a change through the local government election,” he said.

“Those who say unuth ekai, munuth ekai are conspiring to destroy the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB). I am challenging them to do it. Let’s face an election. It will be possible to measure the strengths of the parties through an election,” Mr. Premadasa said.

Our mission is ‘Sri Lanka First’. We work in unity. We reject extremist capitalism and extremist socialism. We embrace a social market economy. We ensure the economic benefit is tricked down in an equal manner. Rulers today don’t have a vision. Late President Premadasa implemented Janasaviya through objective time targets. We reject the contraction of the economy. Some think market forces can resolve everything. However, state intervention is needed. A software revolution is needed. The agricultural sector should be empowered with modern technology. We need to modernize infrastructure facilities,” he added.

“Loss-making state institutions should be restructured. However, we will not send the employees home. We will do it through public-private partnerships. We will replace the Prevention of Terrorism Act and replace it with new legislation. We will ensure that human rights are safeguarded,” he also said
