Lanka IOC Aviation fuel meets standards -Ministry

The Ministry of Petroleum Resources Development says the imported a stock of 14,000 metric tonnes of aviation fuel by the Lanka Indian Oil Company meets the required standards.

Issuing a special statement, the Ministry said the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation is committed to provide aviation fuel that meets the relevant standards.

The Ministry also said the demand for aviation fuel increased unexpectedly over the past few weeks adding that the Ministry decided to buy 14,000 metric tonnes of oil from Lanka IOC in order to maintain its stocks.

The Petroleum Ministry noted the samples from the oil consignment were checked by a group of independent experts according to the mechanism of the CPC.

Meanwhile the Ministry of Petroleum Resources Development requested the public not to believe false rumours spread by certain parties with the intention of creating unrest within the country.
