Trinity rugger player dies after collapsing during marathon warm-up

KANDY – A rugger player of Trinity College, Kandy during a marathon warm-up collapsed and died four hours later after admission to Kandy General Hospital on Sunday 01.The deceased was Bharatha Ekanayake (17), a Grade 12 student.

Bharatha and the team had started the run from Asgiriya to proceed to Pallekele Rugger Grounds, a distance of 12 km. He collapsed near Pallekele.

The post-mortem examination has been fixed for Tuesday 03.
