With the consent of the President, the Chief of Defense Staff may hold the post for two years and the duration can be extended bi-yearly.
The Chief of Defense Staff is tasked with issuing orders regarding strategies of the armed forces, assisting the Minister, developing a theory for overall work force of the armed forces, coordinating intelligence activities among armed forces, assessing the strength of potential enemies, preparation and evaluation of random plans related to armed forces, preparation of policies for the training of joint armed forces, preparation of policy for peacekeeping operations etc. according to the draft act.

| Good choice! Wish him luck as he has proved his might on the battle field unlike some generals who never visited the North. |

| How long we had to wait to see you at the helm from Plantain Point days. The day I saw you with MR in Jaffna as PM next to an artillery gun I said this man is going to finish the scourge. YOu did it. Though you are more to Dharmashoka yet you were at Ananda too. ta. |

Sarath Fonseka's military strategy proved very effective as tiger heads rolled, not one by one, but by hundreds and thousands.
Tiger terrorists are gone. But remnants may be still awaiting the establishment of a 'pe-eelam' in Sri Lankan soil with the help of Vaiko and his henchman!!
The President took the right decision to appoint an 'able man' for the powerful job he merits. He should hunt down all terrorists irrespective of their race or language, to transform SRI LANKA as a free, peaceful, prosperous country....
Everybody should help him in his mission irrespective of political colors.
******************************************************
His opponents have seen that SF was better than the Commander of the Salvation Army in defeating the butcher tiger terrorists!!

Seems to be a good move, BUT..... that means SF will be in an over all controlling position above all other forces commanders including Wasantha Karannagoda the Navy Chief. It's a known secret that SF and WK are arch enemies who do not see eye to eye!
Given that SF was critical of the Navy where he claimed the LTTE was able to smuggle arms even last December which the Navy Commander vehemently rejected. Could we being seeing fire works??????? |

Mahinda has destroyed his future/imminent political enemy, the one who is cherished the most. He got it very right by expressing a racial feeling to say that the Race will salute you and this country belongs to the sinhalese.
Chief of Defence staff Sarath Fonseka is a cool lap dog of Mahinda, now! Give him all the perks, he will be shouldering Mahinda's counterweight.
Hurrah...to the other Chandiya.
Bloody hell, Sarath Fonseka is only a fighter or let's call him a miltary strategist, he is not a man of excellence.
It is a man of Excellence who should take this position. Not a racist Army commander.

Who is saying it? Bloody Tamil Diaspora who had worshiped a Schizophrenic, monster Barbarian Prabhakran as their Sun GOD to make a racist Tamil Eelam carved out of Sri Lanka and miserably failed. |
