Indian warships to shield PM during SAARC meet in Lanka

NEW DELHI: India is not taking any chances with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh`s security during his visit to Colombo for the SAARC summit early next month.
The Centre is planning to despatch three warships, including two frontline guided-missile destroyers, to Sri Lankan waters as security cover for the PM and his entourage from the much-feared LTTE.

With national security adviser M K Narayanan personally looking into the issue due to the `high threat perception` from the LTTE, hectic consultations are on between India and Sri Lanka to ensure fool-proof security arrangements. As the Tamil Tigers are known to use suicide bombers, there can be no room for mistakes.

These warships are needed to protect the Indian P.M. from Pakistani militants.

LTTE will not to Indian Leaders, but they will in coming days.

Recent Bombings have put them into real trouble against any chances to change military advances or a peace breather.

LTTE will not make that mistake again,or they will make a bigger one.

India just showing off there.

If nothing else, this at least works against Prabakaran's false propaganda inside Vanni. The LTTE is trying to hide the truth about India's opposition to Eelam.

If Prabakaran could not organize a single major attack in Colombo during SAARC then the credit should go to our heroic defense forces who have been cleaning the city for the past year or so.

India is just showing off their power and wealth to the
other SAARC nations.

This is kind of a psycological thing in the region.

We all know what came with Late Marshall Tito when he attended the Non Aligned Conference.....

This is just OK.
SL Navy could get to know some Indian Naval personell in these ships to build better contacts in the future.
This aspect too is important.
