Students gone abroad 40-50 Years back were from high class society. Most were from PM`s MP`s children and unsuccessful in Ad level and just Ord pass but returned as lawyers consultants etc.

Today the outflow from ordinary families and everybody worried. Many do part time jobs and earn their expenses while doing their studies. At the end they settle down and send million of dollars foreign exchange to Sri Lanka. Not like the category I mentioned first.

What is the issue? except mere jealousy. If anybody cannot tolerate go to hell!

[Over 7,000 Sri Lankans go overseas annually for studies]

This is as a result of the `ludicrous` system of free higher education Sri Lanka has on offer. Those who could excel in higher studies are shut out by the free higher education system in Sri Lanka in many instances for the lack of one or two marks at the A/Ls .

They are chased away from the country by this system of free higher education. A good 90% (if not more) of those seeking higher education out side Sri Lanka will never return to Sri Lanka.

How many of you forum members were similarly `shut out and chased away` and went on student visas and now would not even think of getting back?

A drain of economical and human resources. Those are some of the by-products that the present system of free higher education has brought to Sri lanka.

This unproductive system cannot be rectified until controls are brought on those narrow minded, extremist, psychopaths in the form of JVP activists breeding in epidemic proportions within the university `dan salas` in Sri Lanka.
