The Tiruchy unit of the Indian Q Branch CID arrested two men for alleged links with the LTTE. Police said M Premraj alias Raj alias Duraikutty (48) of Tiruchy was found to have links with Sea Tiger leader Soosai.
The other suspect was identified as Diesel Kumar from a refugee camp in Rameswaram. Premraj had allegedly received Indian Rs 30 lakhs from Soosai and Raj alias Babu to contruct a boat for LTTE activities. Premraj had been given Indian Rs 20 lakhs as an advance, they said.
According to police, the LTTE had planned to take the boat to Sri Lanka with the help of Kumar.
Kumar is reported to have received Indian Rs one lakh from the LTTE for accomplishing this job. With the works almost nearing completion, the people engaged in constructing the boat got suspicious and had slowed down the work.
The two suspects were arrested on a tip off while they were about to leave for Kerala to check the progress of the work. (Chennai online)
