Father s mistresses ill treat 12 year old girl in Sri Lanka

A twelve-year-old school girl who was allegedly subjected to cruel treatment by two mistresses of her father was handed over to the custody of the Viharamahadevi Children s Home in Biyagama by Colombo Additional Magistrate Purnima Paranagamage yesterday. The case will be taken up again on March 18.
The child from Kotahena area who is a grade 6 student in a statement to Chief Inspector Balachandra of the Bureau for the Prevention of Abuse of Children & Women had said that her mother had left her to live with her father. Although her father was affectionate to her, he was living with two mistresses.
One of the mistresses had three children and another woman was pregnant. Both were living in the same house.
The child has alleged that she was required to do menial jobs in the household with the pregnant woman because she was unable to attend to household duties because of her condition. The minor was also required to look after the children of the first woman. The minor had further alleged that she was subject to assault with a broom stick by the other woman who even resorted to scrape her with her nails. Often she went to school without either meals or tea.
Police stated that the minor had scars on her chest from injuries caused by an assault with a coconut scraper.

Her father should get maximum punishment........then her mother...how she can leave such little girl under custody of a playboy father..... she never cared about child's future...what her behaviours would be if she was brought up among a playboy father and two mistresses.....!!!
I'm glad that she was not raped by this father..... father&daughter cases are very common in our island.. |

Obviously the father must be quite rich to maintain 3 women in 2 different houses.
The mother seems to have abandoned the daughter to live with the husband away from his mistresses. This seems to be quite a unique case as no mother will ever want to leave her daughter to her fate with the husband's mistresses. The mother deserves even more severe punishment than the father.
Responsibility and moral values seem to be taking a nose dive in Sri Lanka. Who is to be blamed for this sorry state? |

Child abuse is terrible and it is widespread in poor communities.
These two mistresses should be tied up together and horsewhipped until they collapse. |

What else can I say?? but appalling.
The mistresses, mother and all the women involved here should be given the maximum of punishments. They do not deserve to have children, period.
The girl's wounds will heal soon, however her psychological scars will be there for ever.
This piece of news has made me very sad. |
