President Mahinda Rajapakse does not have a true mandate to rule the country but one obtained by a Gazette Notification published by the Commissioner of Elections, Dayananda Dissananyake, UNP and Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe said on Sunday (9).
He was addressing a UNP convention in Kandy.
He said the Rajapaksa brothers reached an agreement with the LTTE during the last Presidential election to prevent 600,000 Tamil people from voting and it was due to that agreement that Mahinda Rajapaksa was holding the position of President.
The sovereignty of the people was under threat today as never before and the only way to stop it was by allowing the people to express their wish at an election.
He would unite all forces to protect the people`s sovereignty he said.
He said the Rajapakse brothers were controlling 75 percent of the government budget funds and all powerful ministries were under them.
Mahinda Rajapaksa had accused Wickremesinghe of trying to stop the government obtaining loans but he had not made such an attempt. He had only tried to stop the loan from Hong Kong and Shanghai which would have resulted in the slashing of subsidies and poverty alleviation programmes, he said.
The loan of Rs. 560 million was being negotiated while the country had billions of rupees accrued as outstanding loans and the Rajapaksa brothers were trying to put the people from the frying pan to the fire while enriching themselves, he said.

President Rajapaksa has no true mandate to rule ? Ranil
He said the Rajapaksa brothers reached an agreement with the LTTE during ?..
By telling all this you are not degrading Mr. Rajapaksa but Prabakaran. Indirectly you are saying ?Prabakaran been bought by Rajapaksa brothers? which Prabakaran would not tolerate.
So I am damn sure very soon you will get the same sentence that was given to Pramadasa for humiliating Parabakaran.
P. Ranil we are not bloody Gobbyas to believe you. There are some people called UNPers but not us.

What about loans received by UNP regime after 1977?

If there was no mandate, what must the Prez do ?
Handover the gosl to Ranil?
He does not say it nor does he say what the Prez should do?
Ranil is unable to unite his own party members & politicians, here he is going to unite the masses of the country?

Yes if he or she is not going to be prejudice and have courage to get rid of these present political bas..tads.
I don't mind a Tamil ruling the whole country but do not ask for a separate state.

MR is not a democraticaly elected president. He is a president for people who got no clue about democracy or no respect for that, that is pity.Over 600.000 unp voters did not get their voting cards for the last presidental election when MR was the premier.Plus 700.000 voters in N/E were not allowed to vote due to the biggest bribe in Sri lankan History.MR won the election by 175.000 votes unofficialy.
Some Short sighted people made this big time rough who got caught red handed for stealing tsunami money and keeping that on his sisters account,as the president in sri lanka.
That is the bitter truth. |

| Mr 'Thoppigalaya' (Ranil) thinks that his argument will be accepted by everyone!! Mr. Wickramasinghe, how do you say that those 600,000 people will vote for you?? if you say so, then you must have had another secret agreement with VP for a lesser price?? Mr. Thoppigala, you are a bloo..dy joker ... |
