Buddhist leaders say God TV on Dialog no threat

Religion is violent, irrational, intolerant allied to racism and bigotry invested in ignorance and hostile to free inquiry.

All together religions are bad and waste of time.

Buddhism is not violent, some of the preachers are violent and a shame for the religion. Anyway, in Sri Lanka we see a distorted buddhism which is far far away from its original teachings. Buddhism is fine as long as Lord Buddhas teaching is practiced without those Jathaka Katas.

Both christianity and buddhism are trying to teach us the message of love. That we should love each other and live in coexistence together. But we got those radicals who don`t understand that message. It seems like many monks in Sri Lanka are ready to do what ever they can to protect their religion. I say, show respect for other religions and promote the basic message of love without fighting or hatred. Let each single person choose their own religion, their belief. If a buddhist wants to convert to christianity, let him/her do so. There are also many christians throwing dirt at other religions or people. I don`t think Jesus would use such tactics. Instead welcome people with love and the church will grow.

We are not in this trouble today ,if we had practiced buddhism right,Our people prefer to practice cheap politics than buddhism. Some people in this page, are good examples. They love to see blood. The GOD knows that they got blood in their hands.

Who says all relligeons are same

You have to belive in God and there is only one God

all thease problems are because we are rejecting God and look for other things .

who says we are only a buddist stae ,that is the decision of the drafters of the constitution

let all channels are aired freely ,why some people are scared to do that let every body knows the message of God

The main problem in our country is we are tryng to create a buddist stae without even recognizing the fact that there are Christians who sacrifice their lives to save the motherland

people tend to use the word `by force`without even recognizing they them selves try to do the same

[Sri Sambodhi Viharaya Chief Incumbent Ven. Daranagala Kusaladamma Thera who was instrumental in the launch of `The Buddhist` TV channel said since 70% of the country`s population were Buddhist and since Buddhism was protected by the Constitution there would be no danger]

so, they have consulted JHU to find out as to whether the GOD channel is ok in Slanka. JHU`s double standards and double dealings are being exposed one after the other. How much money the company has paid/donated to those yellow-robed corrupt politicos to get that word out??? Several millions rupees or dollars?? Does the package also include their travel and accommodation to any destination with spa and call girls charges paid by Dialog.

JHU keep up the double standard game and keep selling yourselves in the name of buddhism. It is better to be prostitutes than you guys.

Its good 2 have religous channels available for people. but why 1 free, 1 on subscription...all have the right to listen, watch any religious programs whenever they want...to understand all religions and follow what they feel is the truth. I`m a Muslim, have read on Christianity, Budhism, Indian religions, jewism, Zionism...etc and I respect some of the concept mentioned in some of them.

but, the concept of Land of Budhism is not an acceptable one. Some Monks&Sihala Urumaya leaders asked Tamils to go Tamil Nadu and seek solutions for their problems...then muslims shall go to Arab countries, India or Malay area to find solutions for their problems...all of such based on the concept tht S.Lanka is a Land of Budhism...

Who told them that....if S.Lankan tribal community (Wadda) Leader Wannile Aththo Said `S.Lanka is Wadi Nation..Sinhalese have occupied the island...so, it is our country (which is historically true) and all of you have to leave...where shall Bhudist go...India? Nepal? Butan? Myanmar?.... Possibly to Himalaya ....isn`t it?

come on guyz...wake up....lets live in our small island in peace, no need to fight over...we have enough problems as a nation to deal with....

The way things are going these days...it doesn`t take satellite tv channels to pose a threat to any religion...

religeous leaders are doing a good enough job on their own by getting into politics and making a mess of it.

Why the hell would you feel threatened by other religions coming on tv...that`s just lame. no confidence on your own i suppose....

religeon should be out of politics and it should be for people to decide... as long as one doesn`t insult the other etc. everyone should have the same rights to religeous freedom...

some folks in SL will never wake up to the new world... things have changed whether we like it or not and you will never rule with force... at least not for a long time :)

We all have the right to choose what to believe. The Buddist Channel is enabled to every user without a request, but the God TV is only on request. This is unfair and I believe this not the way to practise freedom. This is an unjust and Sri Lankans are used to all this kind of weird practises. I would say at least the educated Sri Lankans should wake up and talk! Since such people are inactive and busy with other regular tasks - few self-centred and narrow minded people spoils this wonderful nation.
