New charge sheets have been served by the UNP on its reformist MPs who joined the government. Party`s General Secretary Tissa Attanayake told the Daily Mirror yesterday the party had asked for explanation before August 4 as to why they voted with the Government on several supplementary estimates in Parliament last month ignoring the UNP stand.
During the debate on these supplementary estimates meant for the newly created ministries, Chief Opposition Whip Joseph Michael Perera requested the UNP reformist group members to vote against the estimates. However, the reformists voted for the estimates along with the other government parties.
Commenting on the new charge sheets, reformist Non-Cabinet Agriculture Minister Hemakumara Nanayakkara said they would act according to legal advice in this regard.
