Mahinda is the only true leader since 1815 - JHU

It is nice to know that the JHU is very concerned about safegaurding the sovereignty of the island. But how about safegaurding the people? Should that not be the no.1 priority of any leader or any religious organisation? If the JHU is more concerned in protecting the soil than the people who live on it, then I`m sure a sandpit labelled Sri Lanka will do good enough.

Also, the JHU is kindly advised to stay out of advocating to the people of Sri Lanka what their morals should be. If people want to consume alcohol, it is not anyone`s business. Adults don`t need to be told what to do and what not to do. You can go pamper your own Bikkhus but don`t tell competent adults where their morals should stand.

The last so called SL leader in 1815 was Sri Wickramarajasinghe the last king of Kandy who was a Tamil, Prince Wellasamy (or Kandasamy) from south India! So is the JHU chief saying that Mahinda is also a Tamil? Good grief!

For those who are trying to misinterpret the presence of Tamil Kings in the Sinhala History:

King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe`s real name is Prince Kannasamy. His father is a South Indian by the name Venkata Perumal. Though Prince Kannasamy cannot said be to be a Tamil for sure, he definetely spoke a Tamil Dialect and had his origins in South Indian Nayakkar Dynasty. In fact, it does not really matter whether he is a Tamil or not, because even if that is the case, he is still not the only Tamil (or more precisely Dravidan) to govern the `whole of Sri Lanka` (Note: I am not referring to King Elara or other invaders since they never managed to capture the whole of Sri Lanka).

What I wanted to highlight here is Sri Lanka had a tradition of electing Kings and no Sinhalas found any problems with any non-Sinhala born prince declaring the throne as long as they were adhered to the `code of conduct` or the unwritten constitution of Sri Lanka (Sinhale). Therefore we (including Ven. PURA VIDYA CHAKRAWARTHI ELLAWALA MEDHANANDA) are not afraid of recognising those Tamil kings as our own.

For example, Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe is not the only Nayakkar Tamil king. Nayakkar dynasty first came to the power after the demise of King Narendra Singhe who left no prince behind. As such, the brother of King`s Madurai Queen was received the right to declare the throne and was reigned as King Sri Vijaya Rajasinghe, the first of a 4 Nayakkar Kings. All these kings (except King Sri Wickrama, the last one) worked for the betterment of the people and of the Buddhism. For example, the second in the line, King Keerthi Sri Rajasinghe invited a delegation of learned Buddhist monks from Thailand to reinitiate the ordination of Buddhist Monks in Sri Lanka, which later came to know as Siam Nikaya, the very sect Ven. Medananda is belonged to.

One other fallacy prevailed about the conflict occured between Sinhala Leaders and King Sri Wickrama is that they opposed him because he is a Tamil. This is wrong. Sinhala Leaders did oppose King Sri Wickrama for reasons other than his origins, like the brutality he showed against Innocent People including Sinhala Leaders.

THIS IS THE KNOWN, PROVEN, ARTICULATED, WELL-FOUNDED AND ACCOUNTABLE HISTORY OF SRI LANKA.

Lord Buddha said that a person does not born as a wasala but become one by the act, so, does it matter weather you are a sinhalese, tamil, hindu, muslim, christian or even aborginian? what matter is how you live your life. So, I do not believe that we should fight over who came first, or which land belong to whom, but, as people did for thousands of years in sri lanka, can`t we live together as a comunity rather than divide over simple factors. Together we could do good for the future generations rahter than killing like animals.

`I have never read anywhere that lord buddha call himself a shakya wansika like those of our monks calling them self sinhalese before the relegion. Please note that you are belong to Buddha Wamsa or Wansa. `Nahee verena verani...

Others please read Muchalinda`s contribution. I believe most of the Sinhalese think in the same way. Whether the king is Tamil or Sinhala it doesn`t matter for them but they hate terrorism and they have enough experience of sharing power in a United SL.

Muchalinda, that was a fantastic bit of history that you gave. Thanks pal!

So the fact is that off and on people from India have been ruling SL. You would be knowing about Sena and Guththica the two horse merchants from India who ruled SL. History also has it that when ever there was disunity among our people and generally the leaders there was foreign invasion usually from India as ancient SL had a lot of connections with India. Even Mugalan went to India to bring an army to fight Kashyapa. Am I correct Muchalinda? So even this fellow VP could be considered a gun runner with Indian connections who is about to rule SL!

The bottom line is, since we have had so much influence from our neighbor which is India, might as well give what VP wants and get on with it.

One thing for sure, there will be less blood shed from

both parties. And we all can live happily ever after.

By the way Much, that bit of history you wrote, took me back to school.
