Four suspects involved in the alleged rape of a Kuwait-bound young woman, at the Katunayake International Airport, will be produced in court for an identification parade shortly.
The alleged crime took place on October 10.
According to the complaint lodged at the Wellawa police, the four suspects, two casual workers and two airport security personnel, had raped the woman who was at the airport to board a flight to Kuwait.
The suspects had found the woman waiting at the airport and one security person had enquired whether she was leaving for employment in Kuwait through a particular employment agency. When she had answered in the affirmative, he had instructed her to follow him and had taken the woman to a store room.
The moment she had entered the room, the security person with the assistance of the other three, had forced her to drink a powdery substance, after which she had fallen unconscious. When she came to she had found that she had been molested.
Thereafter the suspects had hastily put her on the Kuwait-bound flight.
After reaching her household in Kuwait, she had begun vomiting blood and the concerned householders had immediately informed the police. She had told the Kuwait police of the incident. She had been sent back to Colombo and the Kuwait Police had informed their Sri Lankan counterparts of the alleged crime.
In Colombo she had lodged complaints of the incident at the Airport Police as well as at the Wellawa Police.
The four suspects, arrested early yesterday morning at the airport, are being interrogated, Airport Police said.
