The Supreme Council of the Muslim National Alliance (MNA), led by its Presidential candidate Hafiz Nazeer Ahamed, met leaders of the PA and UNP on October 3 to discuss 20 demands.
The discussions, according to the MNA, had been cordial and promising. No final decision has been taken by the MNA who to support.
The MNA demands are: recognition for Muslims as a national race, identify the Muslims as a separate ethnicity; devolution of power to settle the ethnic conflict on the basis of Federalism, ensure the Muslims` right to internal self-determination, and immediate implementation of the Constitutional provisions to conduct the referendum in the Eastern Province with regards to the temporary merger of the Eastern Province with the Northern Province.
The MNA is particular that acceptance of its demands by the PA or UNP must be given in writing, a release by the Alliance said.
