Two Sri Lankans were taken into custody by officers from the Sri Lanka Customs Narcotics Control Division at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) for trying to smuggle ‘Kush’ cannabis. The arrests happened as the suspects were about to leave the airport using the ‘Green Channel,’ which is for passengers with nothing to declare. When officials checked their luggage, they found 10 kilograms and 476 grams of ‘Kush’ cannabis hidden in 12 packets inside four bags, according to an Ada Derana report. The total value of the seized cannabis is estimated at Rs. 104.76 million, the report added. The two men, aged 25 and 26, are from Bogawantalawa. Investigations showed that they bought the drugs in Bangkok and traveled through New Delhi before reaching BIA around 5:20 a.m. today (26) on Air India flight AI-3203. The suspects have been handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) at the airport for further investigation.
