The Department of Meteorology has announced that weather conditions will be suitable for thundershowers across most areas of Sri Lanka, with increased rainfall expected tomorrow, the 21st. Showers or thundershowers are likely at various times in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Uva, and Central provinces, as well as the Hambantota District. Additionally, showers or thundershowers may occur in other areas after 1:00 p.m. The Met Department warns that some locations in the Central, Uva, and Sabaragamuwa provinces, along with the Batticaloa, Ampara, and Polonnaruwa districts, may experience heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm. Elsewhere, fairly heavy rains over 50 mm are also possible. During the early morning hours, misty conditions may develop in certain areas of the Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, and Kaluthara districts. The public is urged to take necessary precautions to reduce the risk of damage from temporary strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
