Litro Gas Lanka Limited has released a special announcement to calm fears about a short supply of LP gas cylinders in the market. They want to reassure everyone that there are enough gas stocks and that panic buying is unnecessary. The state-owned supplier of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in Sri Lanka explained that the temporary shortage was due to an "unexpected spike in market demand" and a two-day interruption in gas supply on February 14, 2026. Channa Gunawardana, the Chairman of Litro Gas Lanka Limited, stated that the company has quickly acted to restore normal distribution. He mentioned that they distributed 284,000 domestic refill cylinders on February 17 and 18, and an additional 351,000 domestic refill cylinders will be given out from today until Saturday, February 21. The company has also ordered enough gas to meet demand, with three shipments set to arrive before the end of this month to help stabilize the supply. The statement concluded, "Thus, there will not be any future gas shortage."
