The Police Department has received a significant amount of technical equipment valued at Rs. 556 million, as announced by Ananda Wijepala, the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs. During a ceremony at the Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, the Minister officially handed over the equipment to Inspector General of Police, Priyantha Weerasooriya, according to the Police Media Division. This donation marks the largest financial investment in equipment for the Police Department in recent times. The items provided include 1,718 computers costing Rs. 365 million, 575 photocopy machines valued at Rs. 129 million, speed detection tools worth Rs. 45 million, and 1,750 UPS units totaling Rs. 17 million. This initiative is designed to enhance law enforcement and public safety in Sri Lanka by equipping the Police Department with essential technical resources, allowing officers to serve the public more effectively.
