The Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, Ananda Wijepala, has given the Police Department a significant amount of technical equipment valued at Rs. 556 million. He formally presented this equipment to Inspector General of Police, Priyantha Weerasooriya, at the Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, as reported by the Police Media Division. This marks the largest investment in recent times aimed at equipping the Police Department. The police received various items, including 1,718 computers worth Rs. 365 million, 575 photocopy machines valued at Rs. 129 million, speed detection tools costing Rs. 45 million, and 1,750 UPS units totaling Rs. 17 million. This initiative is designed to enhance law enforcement and public safety in Sri Lanka by supplying the Police Department with crucial technical and physical resources, which will help them serve the public more effectively and support the work of police officers.
