British police have detained Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who is King Charles' younger brother, on suspicion of misconduct in public office. On Thursday, authorities confirmed that a man in his sixties had been arrested but did not disclose his name, following national guidelines. The BBC reported that the 66-year-old Andrew was taken into custody due to his connections with Jeffrey Epstein. The Thames Valley Police, which oversees areas west of London where Mountbatten-Windsor once lived, stated they were looking into claims that he sent trade reports to the convicted sex offender in 2010. Although the police did not publicly name him, they confirmed the arrest of a man in his sixties. A police statement indicated, “After a complete assessment, we have launched an investigation into this misconduct allegation.” The statement emphasized the need to maintain the integrity and impartiality of the inquiry as they collaborate with partners to explore the alleged crime. The BBC noted that police were visible outside Mountbatten-Windsor’s residence in Sandringham and were also conducting searches at locations in Berkshire and Norfolk related to the arrest. In the autumn of 2025, King Charles III officially removed Andrew's title of prince after his close ties to Epstein were revealed. The king also took away the title of Duke of York.
