Two brothers have been taken into custody for their involvement in the shooting deaths of a lawyer and his wife in Akuregoda. The Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court has ordered that they remain in remand until March 4. This decision was made today, February 18, when the brothers were brought before the court. The court also allowed the police to hold and question a third suspect, who was arrested yesterday, for 72 hours. The tragic incident took place last Friday, February 13, in the parking lot of a supermarket in Thalangama, Akuregoda, where the lawyer and his wife were shot. Following the incident, the Sri Lanka Police deployed 12 teams to investigate. Initial police reports suggest that the brothers are believed to have helped transport the firearms used in the crime. They were arrested on February 16 in Kottawa by the Western Province South Crimes Range.
