Police have reported that the suspects detained for the double murder in Akuregoda deleted data from their mobile phones after the incident. The three suspects connected to the shooting death of a lawyer and his wife in Akuregoda are set to appear in Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court today, the 18th. The couple was killed last Friday, the 13th, in Thalangama, Akuregoda. Following this tragic event, the Inspector General of Police assigned 12 police teams to investigate the case. On Monday, the 16th, officers from the Western Province South Crime Range arrested two brothers in Kottawa for allegedly transporting the guns used in the murder. These brothers were presented in Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court yesterday, the 17th. The court allowed police to hold the suspects for further questioning until today. Additionally, based on information gathered during the interrogations, a suspect known as “Dila” was arrested in Polgasowita yesterday afternoon. Investigators found that the two brothers had moved the firearms following instructions from “Dila,” who is also believed to have been involved in the crime, according to police.
