David Lammy, the Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, is set to arrive in Sri Lanka today, October 17. His visit aims to strengthen the partnership between the UK and Sri Lanka. Lammy will also observe the UK's humanitarian efforts in response to Cyclone Ditwah, which affected Sri Lanka. During his trip, he plans to meet with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to discuss topics such as economic cooperation, reconciliation, humanitarian needs, and Sri Lanka's involvement in the Global Charter on Children’s Care Reform. This global initiative focuses on improving family-based care and protecting children. Additionally, Lammy will connect with humanitarian aid organizations that are providing UK support to communities impacted by Cyclone Ditwah, which caused significant damage across the nation late last year.
