Three individuals, including the shooter, died in a shooting at a youth hockey game in Rhode Island on Monday, according to officials. Pawtucket Police Chief Tina Goncalves informed the media that three other people were in critical condition at the hospital. The shooter reportedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Although police did not directly cause the shooter's death, an investigation is ongoing. Goncalves mentioned, “It appears that this was a targeted event, possibly stemming from a family dispute.” She did not share specific details about the shooter or the victims' ages, but indicated that the deceased were likely adults. Investigators are working to understand the events and are speaking with witnesses who were present at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, located just a few miles from Providence. They are also reviewing video footage from the hockey game. Unconfirmed videos shared on social media show players ducking for safety and spectators leaving their seats after they heard loud noises. Outside the arena, emotional families and high school hockey players in their uniforms were seen embracing as they prepared to leave on a bus. Police closed off the roads around the arena, maintaining a strong presence as helicopters flew above. This shooting takes place nearly two months after another tragic gun incident at Brown University, where a gunman killed two students and injured nine others.
