The Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, David Lammy, will arrive in Sri Lanka tomorrow, on the 17th. His visit aims to strengthen the partnership between the UK and Sri Lanka. He will also observe the UK’s efforts to help those affected by Cyclone Ditwah in Sri Lanka. During his trip, Lammy plans to meet with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to discuss topics like economic cooperation, reconciliation, humanitarian needs, and Sri Lanka’s role in the Global Charter on Children’s Care Reform. This initiative focuses on enhancing family-based care and ensuring the safety of children. Additionally, the Deputy Prime Minister will connect with humanitarian aid groups that are providing UK assistance to communities impacted by the cyclone, which caused significant destruction across Sri Lanka late last year. This visit highlights the strong bond between the UK and Sri Lanka and the UK’s ongoing commitment to support the nation and its citizens.
