Police conducted an unexpected check on school buses and vans that transport students in Tissamaharama, according to officials. The Tissamaharama Police reported that 23 school buses and three vans were found to be unfit for use on the roads and received prohibition orders. The inspection took place in front of Debarawewa President’s College, with vehicle examiners present. In total, 29 vehicles were checked, and 26 of them were classified as unroadworthy. Officials mentioned that these vehicles can only return to service after they undergo necessary repairs and pass a re-inspection by a vehicle examiner to confirm they are safe for the road.
