Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Israel later this month to strengthen the relationship between the two nations, particularly in defense, agriculture, and counter-terrorism, official sources revealed on Sunday. While the specific dates for this much-anticipated trip have not been confirmed, it is expected that Modi will travel to Israel on February 27-28. This will mark Modi's third visit to Israel during his current term and comes nearly nine years after his last trip to the country. He plans to engage in detailed discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, with whom he shares a strong personal bond. The two leaders are likely to talk about not only their cooperation but also regional and global issues, including the security situation in West Asia. Recently, Netanyahu invited Modi to visit during a lively conversation they had last month. The visit takes place as both nations aim to finalize a Free Trade Agreement (FTA). Israeli Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, mentioned that they are keen to accelerate FTA negotiations. Over the last ten years, India and Israel have gradually enhanced their relationship, with defense and security cooperation becoming a key focus. Israel is one of India's important partners in defense technology, providing essential systems like missiles, drones, surveillance tools, and air defense systems. Both countries have also broadened their collaboration in areas such as cyber security, space, and innovation. The talks will likely cover the Gaza Peace Plan, a multilateral agreement between Israel and Hamas designed to address the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Netanyahu has already updated Indian leaders on the progress of the Gaza Peace Plan, while Modi has reaffirmed India’s ongoing support for achieving a fair and lasting peace in the region.
