The Sri Lankan Navy has detained 25 Indian fishermen for allegedly fishing in Sri Lankan waters in the Palk Strait early this morning, October 16. The fishermen, who set out last night, October 15, in two mechanised boats, were caught while they were fishing. According to the Navy, they had crossed the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) and entered into Sri Lankan territory. The fishermen were arrested for fishing in these waters after crossing the IMBL and were taken to Kankesanthurai port. The Navy also seized their two mechanised boats for further investigation.
