The Sri Lanka Navy has earned almost US$ 600,000 in foreign currency over four months by providing security for international merchant ships. Rear Admiral Harsha de Silva, the Director General of Naval Operations, reported that the Navy made US$ 598,250 since the start of the program on October 3, 2025, through contracts with foreign private maritime security firms. This initiative allows the Navy to offer logistical and operational help for security teams on commercial vessels, creating a new source of foreign income. Rear Admiral de Silva shared these details during a media briefing about the program.
